Open Day Staff

We are always after operating staff on an open day who takes pride in their job. We endeavour to give our customers a memorable experience of history. If you could see your self as a locomotive driver to a guard, or just a helping hand. The more staff the more events can be held, bring your energy and ideas.

General Maintenance

From mowing the lawns to painting buildings there are lots of small jobs that go unnoticed by most but when not done they are very noticeable. We have jobs of the likes of those that want to keep out of the public eye.

Model T Driver

New Zealand's only operating Model T Ford Railcar.

We are always after operating staff for our world-famous model T, duties will involve driving a one-of-a-kind vehicle and giving guests a guided tour of our museum. This position can be as much fun as you can make it by dressing up in period clothing.

Restoration

A museum would be boring with nothing on display. We try to keep introducing something new and refreshing displays. Restoration projects can be making small repairs to completely re-building a hut, locomotive, or carriage, the list is never ending with future possibilities.

Track Maintenance

Without tracks the whole system is derailed. Track maintenance is a very important part of keeping trains rolling. From tightening fasteners to tamping sleepers and replacing tracks there is plenty of work required to keep the line open.

Fire Wood

It is a tough job keeping firewood up to our two steam locomotives they burn approximately 6 cords a day. We get donated a lot of trees from farmers but that is only the start of the process. The job entails felling, limbing, transporting, splitting, and stacking to dry. This is our clean green alternative to burning coal.

Admin Staff

If you are a people person we have the ticket office & Souvenir shops that needs manning on running days. Also, behind the scenes, there is planning to celebrate anniversaries and historic events. Pleasant Point Gazette, advertising and applying for grants/funding for future projects all need interested people.
