NEW TO THE SHELVES:

The society is proud to have launched a children's book at Easter time and now there is a DVD detailing the life of the Fairlie Branch line and giving a behind the scenes look about just how the Pleasant Point Museum and Railway runs.

Kiwi the Engine and Friends is the first children's book to have been commissioned by a private railway in New Zealand. Join Kiwi and his mates as they find a little brown egg on the railway tracks and try to find out just who it belongs to.

This is the first book in what will be a series and has already been selling like hot cakes and getting rave reviews.

Each book costs only $10 and you can get your copy by filling in the form below.

In The Magic of Steam, society members tell the complete and remarkable story of the Pleasant Point Museum and Railway.

For 40 years, the society has kept the sights, sounds and smells of steam engines alive in South Canterbury. Built and run by a small group of volunteers, this nationally and internationally recognised attraction continues to wow visitors from across the world.

In this DVD, you'll hear the early history of the Fairlie branch line, on part of which the railway now runs, and the story of how a small static display evolved into a world-renowned attraction.

Featuring a wealth of new and archive film footage, The Magic of Steam will give you an eye-opening insight into what it takes to keep New Zealand's steam history alive. Costs $25.
